The excitement on the ice continues to build as the 23-24 Scottish ice hockey season starts to unfold. This weekend, prepare yourself for a thrilling double-header featuring two SNL (Scottish National League) showdowns.
Aberdeen Lynx vs Dundee Tigers
First on the ice, the Dundee Tigers make their way north to face off against the Aberdeen Lynx. Both teams are hungry for redemption after disappointing results in their previous games. Notably, Aberdeen have bolstered their squad with the addition of top goal scorer John Dolan, formerly of the Comets. This strategic move enhances their competitiveness as they strive for that crucial first-season win.

Aberdeen head Coach Jordan Leyden said, “We were incredibly disappointed with our first period last weekend against Kilmarnock Thunder, but we showed a lot of composure and grit to get ourselves back in to it but we gave ourselves too much to do with that poor first period.
This weekend the Tigers is going to be another tough test. They’re coming off a loss as well so they will be looking to kick start their season as well. We need to be fully prepared from the start and be ready to fight for every inch of ice.
But bringing Dolan in is a massive boost. Not only is he going to bring a wealth of skill and experience to the team but you can feel a buzz around the team and we hope that will give us another extra boost going into the weekend.”
Dundee Tigers won both their pre season friendlies and will be looking to recapture that form as the season gets underway. With missing out on double points last weekend the pressure will be on this weekend.
Kilmarnock Thunder vs North Ayrshire Wild
In the second game of the weekend, it’s the Kilmarnock Thunder taking on North Ayrshire Wild. Thunder recently wowed fans with a high-scoring victory against the Aberdeen Lynx at home last Saturday, in a 10-9 nail-biting contest and will be looking to replicate their high scores again this weekend.

Whilst under the guidance of coach Domenico DeSimone, North Ayrshire Wild have been nurturing a talented young squad, strengthened this season by the addition of Scotland U16s Captain Owen Rae, who maintains a dual affiliation with his parent club, the Solway Sharks.
With the puck drop imminent, the stage is set for a weekend of fierce competition. Don’t miss out – join us for a weekend of Scottish ice hockey excitement!
